Anything that would help us?

The form has a space to tell us what helps the player thrive — how they communicate best, what they find tricky, anything that would make a first session easier. You can also use our SEND & additional needs form at any time. It goes to coaches, never onto the website.

What to bring

Plain sports kit and trainers are all you need for a taster session — see our Join the Club FAQs for full guidance on kit, footwear and what to bring.

Before you come

Taster session questions

The things families usually want to know before a first netball session.

Can complete beginners join?

Yes — most players who come for a taster session have never played netball before, and our sessions are built on that assumption. Coaches teach the game from the beginning, and no one is expected to know the rules or the positions on their first night.

What age can children start playing netball?

Our youngest group, Petals, starts at age 4 — playful sessions built around balance, coordination and confidence rather than rules. From there children move up through age-group teams by school year, all the way to our senior squads. See the full list of teams for the age group that fits.

What should they wear?

Comfortable sports kit and trainers with good grip, plus a water bottle. There is no need to buy club kit for a taster session — plenty of players come in a school PE top. Long hair tied back, and no jewellery, as netball rules require.

Do they need their own netball?

No. We provide all the balls, bibs and equipment for every session, including tasters. If a player later wants a ball to practise with at home, any size 4 or 5 netball will do depending on their age — but it is never needed to take part.

Which location should we choose — Warrington or Widnes?

Whichever is the easier journey. We run a full set of age-group teams in both towns, with the same coaching and the same pathway — see netball in Warrington or netball in Widnes. If you are not sure, tell us your postcode on the form and we will suggest the closest session.

What happens at the first session?

Arrive a few minutes early and a coach will meet you at the door and introduce the player to the group. The session runs exactly as it normally would — a warm-up, some skills work, and a game at the end. Parents are welcome to stay and watch. Nobody is put on the spot, and it is completely fine to spend the first session watching and joining in gradually.

What happens after the two free sessions?

A coach will be in touch to say how the player got on, and if everyone is happy you will be offered a place in the squad. Joining then means completing the membership form — fees and what they cover are set out on Membership & Fees. There is no obligation to join after a taster, and no charge if you decide it is not for you.

How do parents book a taster session?

Complete the form on this page — it takes a couple of minutes and asks for the player's age and rough location so we can match them to the right team. We will reply by email with the session date, time and venue. If you would rather ask a question first, use the contact form.
