Our new website is live, and it represents much more than a fresh coat of paint. It is the next step in the growth of Grappenhall & Widnes Netball Club.

What began with a shared passion for netball and a belief that a great club could make a difference has grown into a thriving community spanning Warrington and Widnes.

Today, G&W is home to 24 teams across two hubs, welcoming players from age four right through to our adult Senior teams.

As the club has grown, we wanted the experience around the court to grow with it.

More Than Just Netball

There is a phrase you’ll see throughout our new website:

Plant your passion. Nurture your confidence. Flourish together.

It isn’t simply a new tagline.

It sums up what we want G&W to be.

We want every player to have somewhere they can play, develop, belong and enjoy netball, whether they’re holding a netball for the very first time, returning to the sport after years away, enjoying playing alongside friends or aspiring to compete at a higher level.

There isn’t one definition of success at G&W.

For one player, it might be making their first successful pass.

For another, walking nervously through the doors at their first training session.

It might be finding a group of friends, mastering a new position, winning a match, making a county trial or eventually becoming a coach or umpire themselves.

Every player. Every stage. One club. 🌸

As part of this next chapter, we’re making the pathway through G&W clearer too.

Our Petal Pathways Programme recognises that players develop at different speeds and have different ambitions.

Every G&W player is part of Bloom, our foundation pathway focused on enjoyment, development, confidence and building the skills and understanding needed for long-term success.

For players ready to take their game further, Flourish adds an additional performance pathway with specialist training, greater competitive opportunities and an increased focus on technical development, game IQ and team performance.

There’s no expectation that everybody follows exactly the same route.

You start with Bloom. You grow at your pace. And if you’re ready, you can Flourish.

New to Netball? We’ve Got You.

One thing we particularly wanted from the new website was to make G&W welcoming to people who don’t already understand netball.

Parents shouldn’t need to know the difference between a GA and GD before their child can join a club.

So we’ve built an entire New to Netball area explaining the sport from scratch.

Positions. Court markings. Three-second rules. Footwork. Defending distance. Post heights. What happens on your first matchday. What to bring. Even why the umpire keeps blowing that whistle.

If you’re standing beside a netball court thinking “I’ve absolutely no idea what’s happening here”, we’ve got you covered.

Finding Your Place at G&W Is Easier Too

Our new website brings our Warrington and Widnes sides of the club together while making it much easier to find the information relevant to you.

You can explore our teams, see training times, discover opportunities at both hubs, check fixtures and find out exactly how joining works.

And if you’re thinking about giving netball a try, you don’t have to commit immediately.

New players can start with two free taster sessions.

Come along. Meet the team. Meet your coach. Get on court.

Then decide whether G&W feels like home.

No More Hunting for Information

Existing G&W families haven’t been forgotten either.

One of the biggest additions to the new website is Your Dashboard.

Choose your player’s team once and the website remembers it.

From there, the information that matters to you is brought together in one place, including:

* Tonight’s training

* Your coach

* Upcoming fixtures

* Latest team news

* Team photos

* Club and team documents

Because nobody should need an archaeological expedition through WhatsApp messages to find out what time training starts.

Fixtures at Your Fingertips

The new website also puts fixtures front and centre.

Today’s games can appear directly on the homepage, with upcoming fixtures showing who we’re playing, when the first centre pass is and where you need to be.

It’s another small change with a simple purpose:

make being part of G&W easier.

And this is only the beginning of what we want to do.

Clearer Costs. No Surprises.

We’ve also made something else much easier to find: what it actually costs to play.

Our Membership & Fees area clearly explains the costs associated with joining and playing for G&W.

We believe families should be able to understand those costs before making a decision.

And importantly, we never want financial circumstances to automatically mean somebody has to walk away from the sport they love.

If cost is becoming a barrier to participation, we encourage families to speak to us confidentially.

Supporting the Person Behind the Bib

Growing into a bigger club doesn’t mean losing sight of the individual.

In fact, we want the opposite.

The new website gives greater prominence to wellbeing, safeguarding, SEND and additional needs, equality and inclusion.

We want to understand what helps every player thrive.

Our coaches see the person behind the bib, not simply the result on the scoreboard.

That philosophy runs through our coaching, our pathways and the kind of club we’re trying to build.

Built by Families, for Families

G&W remains proudly volunteer-run.

Behind every training session, fixture, event, email, register, piece of kit and new idea is somebody giving their time because they care about this club.

That community spirit has been part of G&W from the beginning.

When Meg Parker and Beth Keen founded Grappenhall & Widnes Netball Club, they did so through a shared passion for netball and a belief that the right club could make a genuine difference to its players and the communities around it.

The club has grown considerably since then.

But the purpose hasn’t changed.

Create opportunities. Support our players. Strengthen our community. And make sure there’s always a place to play netball. 🌸

And We’re Still Growing…

This website isn’t the finish line.

It’s infrastructure for where we’re going next.

More opportunities for players.

More support for coaches.

Better communication for families.

Clearer development pathways.

More ways to volunteer.

New partnerships with local businesses.

And new players discovering netball for the very first time.

There will be plenty more appearing on the site as we continue to develop it, just as the club itself continues to develop.
